Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, yet suicide can be prevented. Volunteers from throughout the National Capital Area are hiking to draw attention to the fight for suicide prevention. The annual Hike for Hope, hosted by the National Capital Area Chapter (NCAC) of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) will be held at 8:00 A.M., June 29, 2019 at Claude Moore Park – Pavilion 2. This walk supports AFSP’s education and support programs and its bold goal to reduce the annual U.S. rate of suicide 20 percent by the year 2025.
